Cochrane Systematic Review shows positive results in treatment of heart failure with Chinese herbs

Cochrane Systematic Review of SHENGMAI HERBAL TREATMENT For Heart Failure concluded that: "Shengmai therapy in addition to usual care showed an improvement in heart function (New York Heart Association criteria) compared to the usual treatment alone in five of these studies. Improvements were seen in direct measures including stroke volume, ejection fraction and cardiac output. One trial compared Shengmai therapy to placebo and demonstrated significant improvements in stroke volume and myocardial contractility measures. No subjects were withdrawn from any of the studies due to adverse events related to treatment."
