Study shows albuterol no more effective than placebo or 'sham acupuncture' in treating asthma

There was no significant difference in patients' reports of relief between those who were treated with an albuterol inhaler, a placebo inhaler, or were given 'sham acupuncture' away from actual acupuncture points and without insertion into the skin. "Placebo effects can be clinically meaningful and can rival the effects of active medication in patients with asthma."
