Seitai Shiatsu

Seitai Shiatsu was created by Lok-Kwan Cheng based on Seitai Shinpo, a system of acupuncture & moxibustion for correcting structural distortions created by Japanese doctor Sorimachi Dai-ichi. Most people show a certain degree of shoulder and hip imbalance: the right shoulder may be lower than the left, the right hip may be higher than the right, for example. Structural imbalance reflects internal imbalance or they may lead to internal pathologies if not corrected.

I developed Seitai Shiatsu based on Seitai Shinpo, a system of acupuncture & moxibustion for correcting structural distortions created by Japanese doctor Sorimachi Dai-ichi. Most people show a certain degree of shoulder and hip imbalance: the right shoulder may be lower than the left, the right hip may be higher than the right, for example. Structural imbalance reflects internal imbalance or they may lead to internal pathologies if not corrected.
Seitai Shiatsu uses Shiatsu techniques to re-align the body’s structure and in so doing prevents and treats many diseases. Effects are immediately seen and felt within the first treatment session.

Tui Na

Tui Na is Chinese massage therapy. Tui means to press or push. Na means to grasp. The name became popular only in the 1950's. Before that it was called An Mo and in the ancient texts, An Qiao. An means to press. Mo means to touch. Japanese Shiatsu, in fact, was developed from An Mo. The most important term is Qiao. Qiao means a bridge. This means as I am touching and pressing I am actually making a bridge, making a connection, between myself and the person.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a Japanese style of bodywork that balances the energies of the body. It is as graceful as a meditative dance but its effects are deep and penetrating. Recipients come away feeling revitalized, balanced, and centered. It is great for de-stressing but I also use it to address specific physical and emotional concerns.

Shizuto Masunaga (1925-1981) laid down the theoretical framework of Zen Shiatsu. His student Wataru Ohashi introduced it to the west. Lok-Kwan studied with Ohashi and taught as a Certified Ohashiatsu Instructor. Presently he teaches at Zen Shiatsu Chicago.
