Bible Cyst
Fifty six year old male with ganglion cyst half an inch distal to the lateral epicondyle of his right arm. The cyst was hard and rubbery and protruded a quarter of an inch above the skin. There was no pain. It developed more than eight years ago when he was an avid racket ball player. He had to quit playing due to recurring epicondylitis. However, the ganglion cyst remained.
Patient received two acupuncture treatments three days apart. Needles were inserted directly into the cyst and stimulated. Two weeks later the cyst completely disappeared. It never returned.
Ganglion cysts are also called Bible cysts because in the old days doctors used to cure it by whacking it with a heavy Bible.
